The Greater Toronto Area, also referred as GTA(not to be mistaken with the famous game) is the 7th largest metropolitan area in North America with over 6 million of total population. GTA begins in Burlington in the Halton Region, and extends along Lake Ontario past downtown Toronto eastward to Clarington in the Durham Region. The Greater Toronto Area is a part of several larger areas in Southern Ontario.
GTA consists of culturally diverse population and has an exceptional food culture. Although, it’s the lively festivals, major league sports and renowned art and theatre make Greater Toronto Area a globally recognized destination.
EXPLORING THE GREATER TORONTO AREA
Locals are the best way to know the great places in a given area and here in GTA, locals love their city markets. There are lots to do like browsing produce on stalls, café and restaurants, arts and crafts and many more. Some of the best places to do so are in bohemian Kensington Market, Distillery History District, St. Lawrence Market or at the Evergreen Brick Works.
Also, you should not miss the locally dubbed “The Village in the City”, the vibrant neighborhood of Streetsville.

If you’re into animals, you can find Canada’s largest zoo here in GTA! The Toronto Zoo. If heights don’t bother you, the CN Tower is perfect for you! Here you can scale 140 stories for the best views in the city. If science is your thing, the interactive science museum, Ontario Science Centre is there. Feeling medieval and want to experience what it’s like to live in a castle? Explore the halls of Casa Loma, a grand 18th century castle overlooking Toronto.
